Job Description

ROLE SUMMARY:

A  PR Manager works effectively as part of the PR team to develop and deliver excellent quality PR strategies and plans for clients. You will control and lead the PR activities for a number of clients and support junior staff to achieve the required objectives within agreed budget and timetable. In particular, as a PR Manager you will be dedicated to providing media relations, content development, media planning, booking and crisis handling for clients’ communication campaigns. 

You will help to generate a flow of new revenues by expanding PR services for existing clients and working as part of a new business team for PR pitches. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

PR Planning, Media Relations & Content Management: 

  • Develop sound PR strategies, execution, content and media plans 

  • Deliver insightful mappings of client’s reputation issues, stakeholders and their respective viewpoints to inform communications strategies 

  • Proactively identify opportunities and collaborate with media to raise appropriate PR activities and enable innovative PR formats 

  • Create and maintain PR story calendars with engaging story angles, ensuring strategic alignment, consistency and brand compliance 

  • Manage the development and delivery of press releases, articles, TV features as well as other PR formats 

  • Develop strategic communication materials such as messaging tracks, Q&As, spokesperson briefings, etc. 

  • Manage pitching of stories to journalists, and handling media enquiries 

  • Oversee the organization of media meetings (including interviews, press conferences, informal meetings) 

  • Cultivate positive relationships with members of the press in print, online and AV media on behalf of the agency and clients – as well as with relevant other stakeholders such as government representatives 

  • Oversee PR booking for approved media plans 

  • Oversee the management of KOLs engaged in PR campaigns, from identification, negotiation and briefing, to execution and reporting 

  • Ensure fast and effective crisis management for clients in the event of actual or potential negative media noise, in collaboration with Senior PR Manager and/or GM; be available outside office hours in order to deal promptly with the PR aspects of a client’s crisis 

  • Oversee media monitoring and compilation of PR campaign reports with to-the-point and actionable insights 

People Management: 

  • Help to motivate and develop junior staff, ensuring correct standards for all work are carried out and that they feel respected, listened to and recognized through regular performance reviews 

  • Ensure that relationships in the team work effectively, and be responsible for solving inter-team issues 

  • Champion our MSL culture of integration and collaboration across disciplines and teams 

Client Consulting & Financial Management: 

  • Build, maintain and develop strong client relationships as a trusted PR advisor – actively participate in client meetings to provide PR views 

  • Be critical in your thinking and constructive in your feedback 

  • Use questioning techniques and listening skills to deepen your understanding of client issues and briefs 

  • Maintain overview of client contact by subordinates and ensure that all work carried out and submitted to clients is of the highest quality 

  • Manage financial administration, budgets and profitability of PR projects 

  • Be fully aware of MSL’s terms of business and standard contracts 

Business Development: 

  • Demonstrate a broad understanding of clients’ issues, their business and sector, PR and media trends, and use this knowledge to anticipate client problems and expand or improve MSL’s PR services 

  • Take an active role in PR pitches for new business 

  • Supervise and help develop the Agency’s own PR initiatives 

Qualifications

+5 years of experience in public relations; ideally with a background in journalism
